Our farm
We're the Juillard family, and Juillard Farm is our place near Stryker, Ohio. We raise grass-fed, grass-finished cattle. We believe good land is a gift, and we try to take care of it, and the animals on it, the way we'd want our own children to inherit it. When you buy a share from us, you know exactly where your beef came from and who raised it.Thank you for supporting a family farm. We're grateful for every family we get to feed.
The Juillard Family

Grass-fed and grass-finished
A lot of beef is grass-fed for part of its life and then finished on grain. Ours is grass-fed and grass-finished, with no grain finishing.
Raised on grass
Our cattle spend their lives on grass. We think it's the most natural way to raise them, and it's how we want to farm.
Leaner, with a different fat profile
A 2010 research review in Nutrition Journal found grass-finished beef tends to be lower in total fat and, per gram of fat, higher in omega-3s and CLA than grain-fed beef. We're not making health promises, just sharing what the research says.
A flavor worth knowing
Grass-finished beef has a distinct flavor, and its fat can look slightly yellow. Because it's leaner, it cooks a little differently: we suggest steaks at medium-rare to medium, and taking your time with roasts.

Example cost (example weights, not a quote)
Your final price depends on your animal's actual hanging weight. Here's how the math works using example weights:
Split quarter: 150 lb (example) × $8.75 = $1,312.50, minus $200 deposit = $1,112.50 balance
Half: 300 lb (example) × $8.50 = $2,550.00, minus $200 deposit = $2,350.00 balance
Whole: 600 lb (example) × $8.25 = $4,950.00, minus $200 deposit = $4,750.00 balance
If you choose delivery, add $30 within 60 miles of our farm, or $60 beyond, to your balance. Example: a whole with delivery within 60 miles is $4,750.00 + $30.00 = $4,780.00 total.
Example weights only. Typical hanging weights are about 140 to 200 lb for a quarter, 275 to 400 lb for a half, and 550 to 800 lb for a whole (Washington State Department of Agriculture bulk beef guide). Processing is included in the per-pound price.

Questions
What's the difference between hanging weight and take-home weight?
Hanging weight is the weight of the carcass after slaughter, before it's aged, cut, and wrapped. Our price is based on it. Take-home weight is the packaged beef that goes in your freezer, and it's lower because of bone, fat trim, and moisture loss. Michigan State University Extension estimates take-home is roughly 68 to 70% of hanging weight for mostly bone-in cuts and about 50% for all-boneless cuts. How much freezer space do I need?
Plan on about 1 cubic foot per 35 to 40 lb of packaged beef: roughly 4 cu ft for a quarter, 8 for a half, and 15 for a whole (University of Maine Cooperative Extension). A small chest freezer usually handles a quarter. Why is the beef labeled "Not for Sale"?
Because you're buying a share of a live animal, your beef is processed under the federal custom exemption, for you as the owner and for your household. Federal rules require custom-exempt meat to be marked "Not for Sale," and it can't be resold, traded, or given away outside your household and nonpaying guests. It's the same beef. The label just reflects how it was processed. What's a cut sheet?
It's your instructions to the processor: steak thickness, how many steaks per package, roasts or more ground beef, ground beef package size, and extras like soup bones. We'll send it after you reserve and help you fill it out. It's due by January 28, 2027. Email it to [email protected] or text a photo to 614-448-8725.What's a split quarter?
Instead of only the front or back of the animal, a split quarter is half of a half: a mix of cuts from both, so you get steaks, roasts, and ground beef. Can I get a half or a whole?
Yes. Quarters can be combined into a half or a whole while they last. Just reserve the half or whole card above. When and where is pickup? Do you deliver?
You can pick up your beef at Brookview Farms, our processor, or our family will deliver it to you: $30 within 60 miles of our farm, or $60 beyond 60 miles, added to your final balance. We'll send pickup details after you reserve, and we'll let you know as soon as your beef is ready. How do I pay?
Your $200 deposit is paid online when you reserve. Your final balance is paid through a secure Stripe payment link we'll email you. Bank transfer (ACH) is preferred, and cards are accepted. Is my deposit refundable?
Yes. Your $200 deposit is fully refundable through December 31, 2026, with no fees deducted. After that, see our deposit and refund policy below. Can I split a share with another family?
Yes. List everyone's names when you reserve so every owner is named before processing. Families sharing a share send us one order form between them, so you'll agree on the cuts together.
